Diversify

With facing the ongoing fuel crisis, I feel the pressure myself. I work with a company who raised the travel cost by $0.05. Not much, but every dollar helps.

Tip: Do a search for the cheapest petrol/ Diesel in your area, check out different Apps.

We like the 7/11 app, as we can save few dollars here and there.

I have been looking for more local activities for my clients whenever I can. Activities who accept the companion card my client has and more lovely bushwalks, where I can combine exercise with an outing out in nature (did I mention yet that I may chose an outing where there is no reception on purpose??!).

No phone coverage is a great way of helping my client to listen to the bush noises.

Our Mt Glorious rainforest walk was lovely. The sun was shining through the big fig trees and palms, while we saw gorgeous fungi growing on dead logs, bellbirds singing and black skinks enjoying the cooler month of the year too.

My client is a teenager, and we took many gorgeous close-up photos to share with her family too. Nature's studio can be so much fun!

Tech lite

The 1 hr circuit walk was too long for her, so we walked on the flatter part for 20 mins and then back out to the carpark. Just perfect to get her away from her bedroom where she loves to spend most of her day lately.

The iPad and her mobile phone have become such a constant entertainment that she takes it to the restroom, in the car and along on any outings they do as a family….

Yes 3 children 3 iPads and headphones.

When I work with her, I ask her to leave them at home.

I have my Teenage PODD book and my mobile with me. She uses my mobile as soon we hop in my car to play her Spotify song playlist, but for nothing else.

Stress-lite

My support session should be time to do things: have conversations, play games, attend therapies, explore, have fun, cook, bake and if she needs a rest, we can have that with relaxing music and essential oils in my home diffuser.

No need to have a screen going.

Try cutting up cucumber wheels and place them on their eyes for a relaxing Time Out. It’s so good, I had an 8-year-old going to sleep with her cucumbers on her eyes. She obviously needed the sleep!

Chemical lite

On another note … Talking about cleaning, now how many bottles of stuff do we need?

My clients all know my spray bottle with the “A “on it well by now. Lemon myrtle is our favourite cleaner concentrate I buy and then dilute 10ml per 500ml spray bottle.

No chemicals and good smells only.

Can be used in the kitchen, windows, bathroom and yes, even tried the mouldy walls at a client's place and managed to wipe it clean too.

The company behind the concentrate has an overview of what you can use for what and how to create a power paste with concentrate, water and baking soda.

Until the next time, stay safe and smile.
